Comfort Is Not Obedience

In part two of the "Unpopular Views" series, Pastor Matthew Mletzko takes on our love of comfort. God truly is the God of all comfort, but a comfortable life was never the goal. Real growth, and becoming more like Christ, happens on the far side of obedience, and obedience is almost never easy. Walking through Jesus' own obedience to the cross and the costly callings of Abraham, Gideon, and David, this message asks whether we bend Scripture to fit our comfort or bend ourselves to Scripture, and whether God is a consultant we can overrule or the King we obey. The service closes with a heartfelt announcement: Jordan and Sydney Bolt share that God is calling them away from Solid Rock this August to pursue seminary, a living example of choosing obedience over comfort.
